CHRISTUS Spohn has long been committed to leading the fight against cancer in South Texas. Our new center represents that commitment by connecting many of our outpatient cancer services into a comprehensive network.
The two-story, red brick facility is a $3.2 million, 24,500-square foot expansion of the CHRISTUS Spohn Radiation Therapy Center. The new facility includes all outpatient chemotherapy and radiation therapy, the Cancer Registry and physician offices.
A patient library/resource room and a conference room add another dimension to the Cancer Center - a public resource and learning center for the community. The conference room is being used for cancer support group meetings and the smaller resource room will provide educational support for patients and their families in a private setting.
The Radiation Therapy Center has always been a vital link in CHRISTUS Spohn's commitment to provide quality cancer care, providing state-of-the-art treatment and treatment planning equipment operated by a staff of highly skilled specialists in a healing environment. The newest radiation therapy system offered at the Radiation Therapy Center is the Peacock. One of the most sophisticated technologies in the world. The Peacock makes it possible for physicians to direct intense beams of radiation at specific tumors while leaving nearby healthy tissue undamaged.
The opening of the CHRISTUS Spohn Cancer Center at 1415 Santa Fe Street was one of the most exciting advances in cancer care here in Corpus Christi.
